Two new WT 300 e.tronic in Frankfurt, Germany
New WILBERT tower cranes supplied to German prestige site
Ed. Zübling AG started the construction work for the “Opernturm” in the middle of Frankfurt/Main, Germany. This 170 m high building will enrich the skyline of the city. Two WT 300 e.tronic will grow taller together with the building until its completion which is planned for autumn 2009. The prestige site is the first job ever for the latest model of WILBERT Turmkrane.

The WT 300 e.tronic – that rounds off the range of WILBERT tolley jib cranes comprising 7 types for the time being – shows all WILBERT-typical characteristics:
- The transport optimisation: The complete slewing part incl. 70 m jib can be transported to the site on 3 trailers.
- The simplification of assembly: A lot of features ease and shorten the assembly time.
- The drive concept: All drives are controlled by frequency converters which reduce the starting current.
- The comfort of operation: The PLC enables for pleasant work from the large sized cab equipped with a touch panel.
- The safety package: As all safety relevant measuring systems exist twice, the WT 300 e.tronic fulfills the safety categorie 3 (DIN EN 954/3).
- The maintainability: A modem transmits the data of the operating data collection directly to the technician. The systematic use of large-scale components eases obtaining of spare parts.
- Building set: 18 different jib lengths between 25 and 70 m can be assembled in 2.5 m steps by the combination of 8 jib sections.
On the “Opernturm” site, the two WT 300 e.tronic (Crane 1 and 3), that have a max. load capacity of 16 t and a top capacity of 4 t at 70 m radius, will be assembled with 45 m (8 t) and 50 m (7.1 t) jib length.
Crane 1 with a free-standing height under hook of 79 m started its work on 12 June. With its 50 m long jib, it will assemble crane 3 in a distance of 47 m in July.
By phase 4, hook heights of 200 m and 186 m will be reached. The WT 300 e.tronic needs only 3 building attachments for this height. From phase 2 on, the standard 45 kW hoist units will be exchanged for 110 kW high-rise hoist units with considerably faster hoisting speeds. The highrise hoist units are part of the WILBERT building set.
Like for the assembly, the “only” 186 m high crane will be disassembled by the 200 m high crane 1 at the end of the construction time. This reduced the disassembly costs for crane 3 considerably, because no climbing has to be proceeded.
By the way, crane 2 on the “Opernturm” site is a WT 205L e.tronic – the first type of WILBERT luffing jib cranes.
