The building
The topping out ceremony for the 170 m skyscraper, comprising an impressive 62,500 m² of usable space on 42 storeys accessible by means of 16 elevators, took place in 2009. The atrium alone has a height of 19.5 m. A 7-storey podium building encircles the tower.
The cleverly designed block perimeter and the natural stone facade fits harmoniously in with the existing buildings surrounding Opernplatz, opposite the old opera. It was one of the first office buildings in Europe to be certified with the LEED Gold environmental standard for resource-efficient, sustainable and environmentally friendly construction.
The brief
Two WT 300 e.tronics that grow in height economically and efficiently in sync with the buildings designed by Christoph Mäckler – up to approx. 200 m.
The implementation
During the construction phase, two WT 300 e.tronics and one WT 205L e.tronic were used. With four stays and three climbing tiers each, the heights of the two trolley cranes were easily raised from 65 and 79 to 184 and 199 m respectively – always in line with the current height of the building.
