  • Grain Storage Silos, Brake

Grain Storage Silos, Brake
Special project

CustomerKarl Köhler GmbH & Co. KG
Construction
11/2012–11/2013
Getreidesilo im Hafen von Brake
Fundament der Getreidesilos im Hafen von Brake
The construction project
The aim was to raise Brake’s status as a leading logistics location for agricultural products in Europe with the construction of storage silos for grain and feed with a net capacity of 47,000 t.

In total, the 38 honeycomb-shaped silos measure 61 m in length, 22 m in width and, including the nacelle, 83 m in height. They stand on 360 concrete piles that are anchored up to 19 m into the ground.

The brief
As there are railway tracks on both sides of the silos, which remained in operation during the construction, the two cranes used had to stand in the silos’ honey combs, so that the maximum radius amounted to maximum half a metre at a height of just on 60 meters. Otherwise, the crane tower could collide with the slipwork. Due to the narrow base of the individual silos. no ballasting could be done.

The implementation
A WT 200 e.tronic and a WT 300 e.tronic were used.
The cranes were embedded in the foundation by means of anchor rods. A wide tower construction starting with our 750 mt tower element S 24, provided the towers with the required stability.

Despite the 84.6 m hook height of the WT 300 e.tronic, we ensured a high working speed thanks to the specialised hoisting winch used for construction applications.

During the slipform process, 250 m³ of concrete and 40 t of steel were processed per day. The slipform speed amounted to 3 m/day.

WILBERT Laufkatzkrane auf der Baustelle des HRW-Campus

Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences, Mülheim

HWR’s new campus was built on an area of approx. 40,000 m² between September 2012 and December 2015. Four WILBERT trolley cranes were used: 3× WT 200 e.tronic and 1× WT 320 e.tronic.

REA Turow, Bogatynia (PL)

Here, the task of the WT 2405L e.tronic was the chimney modernisation in a densely built-up area: The existing filters had to be replaced by new, better performing filters at dizzying heights. The crane was assembled at a low height and then erected by crawling for this purpose.
