Replacement of a Central Bridge in Magdeburg (DE)

For more than fifty years, the city of Magdeburg has been working on a sustainable, flood-proof concept for traffic and the complex of bridges in the town centre. The next step of the project includes a new pylon bridge over the rivers Zollelbe and Alte Elbe as well as the renovation of another bridge called the Neue Strombrücke.

The construction sites are near several architectural and cultural monuments as well as the habitat conservation area “Elbaue zwischen Saalemündung und Magdeburg”.

Our all-rounder crane WT 260 e.tronic proves its qualities with a 40 meters long boom and a free-standing hook height of 76.80 meters. In addition to the maximum load capacity of 12 tons, the crane ensures with its fast working speeds that everything runs smoothly on the construction site. A 65 kW hoist is part of the standard equipment. The lifting speed, while operating with two ropes and continuously variable acceleration, allows for up to 52 meters per minute with a load of 6 tons on the hook. The empty hook speed is up to 137 meters per minute.

A unique requirement of the crane assembly was the need for exact pre-planning of all truck deliveries, as many regular access roads were closed and diversions and one-way routes were set up due to the extensive construction work.

A second WILBERT crane, a WT 150 e.tronic, will support the work on the bridge's pylon starting mid-August 2021. This crane will be erected with a 45 meters radius and a hook height of 27.5 meters.
